Buster Keaton that he is “arguably the greatest actor-director in the
history of the movies.” Keaton, a comedy legend whose dead pan
expression in all his sketches earned him the name ‘The Great Stone
Face’, performed his stunts himself.
Some of the stunts are actually quite dangerous and unlike today,
there are no high-tech harnesses or machinery to fall back on.
The train stunts are particularly spectacular. Keaton, who had
his best run in the 1920s, is seen jumping and rolling down hillsides
